Drug Addiction Paragraph

Drug addiction means a strong desire to take harmful drugs. Young boys and girls are increasingly becoming addicted to drugs nowadays. People take drugs for many reasons. The main reasons are frustration, unemployment problems and acute mental crisis. Drugs include various harmful substances such as morphine, heroin, cocaine, etc. Dishonest businessmen and smugglers contribute greatly to the worldwide spread of drugs.

Young minds are easily addicted to drugs. Young people who keep bad company often become addicted. Being frustrated in life, some young people take drugs which give them temporary euphoria. It is followed by unhappiness, moral degradation, unemployment, etc. It tells seriously upon the health of the addicts. It creates social problems too.

Narcotics are very expensive. So, the addicts may get involved in stealing, mugging, etc. to procure money for buying drugs. People who once get addicted to drugs can hardly get rid of them. A drug addict's liver, heart, kidney and brain may get irreparably damaged. He gradually loses his health and wealth and finally becomes seriously sick. He gradually begins to lose his weight, the colour of his skin changes and he eventually falls victim to the icy hands of death.

Drug addiction can be controlled by raising consciousness among the people in general and by putting a ban on it. I can guard myself against such a bad habit by always remembering the fatal effects of drug addiction, avoiding evil company and above all following a disciplined life. To save our young generation from the claws of drug addiction, the production and trafficking of drugs should be strictly controlled.
